flat is the new fluffy

I have come to terms with the fact that I am not a fluffy pillow person.  They are so much prettier and seem like they would provide much better support and certainly make your bed look better.  But NO.  Not worth the cricks in my neck and the shortage of sleep.

We went on vacation last week and I think I got about 2 hours of sleep each night - the pillows were so uncomfortable to me!  I felt like I was some sort of "princess and the pea."  They were nice pillows -  sturdy, fluffy, puffy, soft yet firm..... meh.  I ended up putting a pillow case on one of the throw pillows.

I went through a phase where I kept buying new pillows, certain that one of them held the restful night of sleep for which I longed. Memory foam, pillows for side sleepers, microbead, body pillows, you name it, I tried it. But none of them worked for me.  As a result, even our guest beds have a minimum of 4 pillows.  We currently have 22 pillows in the house:

(actually we have 25 - the 3 "extra" pillows are in the linen closet.)

(25 is a bit excessive for a household of 2, no?)

Out of all of these pillows, there is 1 that provides me with a decent night sleep.... and it is the sorriest, flattest, wimpiest thing you've ever seen:

To put it in perspective, here is a picture that shows how much flatter it is than the other pillow on the bed:

I am a "side sleeper" but supposedly the pillows for "stomach sleepers" would be best for me.  I don't know.  I'm starting to think that "20 year old" pillows are my best bet.

I hear ya. Ilove pillows for when I am watching TV in bed but I usually don't use one when I sleep.

Joseph and I are the same way! And I get headaches if I have the wrong kind of pillow, so I've tried a million of them. I always go back to old faithful!
